🙏 Save the Vision of a Devotee Serving in Colombia

Urgent Medical Support Needed

🕉️ About the Devotee

Hare Krishna. Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

My name is Rukmini Ramana Das, disciple of His Holiness Jayapataka Swami.

For the past 25+ years, I have dedicated my life to preaching Krishna consciousness in Colombia, South America. With Krishna’s mercy, I personally built a small temple — ISKCON Kaligandaki Center — with my own hands, serving in a place where resources and support are very limited.

⚠️ What Happened

In October 2025, while constructing a guest house for visiting devotees, a wire pierced my right eye, causing severe damage and immediate loss of vision.

Lens damaged

Retina displaced

No insurance or financial backup

Doctors advised urgent surgery, but it was beyond my means.

✈️ Journey to Mumbai for Treatment

With the help of His Holiness Mahavishnu Swami and devotees, I traveled to Mumbai and received treatment at Bhaktivedanta Hospital.

Initial surgery performed (lens replacement)

Hope for recovery restored

But the situation became more complicated…

🚨 Current Medical Condition

I am now suffering from a serious eye infection (uveitis) caused by the injury.

Under treatment with a specialist in Mumbai

Already underwent another procedure (biopsy and internal cleaning)

Infection still persists

Requires ongoing treatment, medicines, and monitoring

Without proper care, I may permanently lose my vision.

🙏 Why Your Help Matters

I have no personal income and have dedicated my life fully to service.

If I lose my vision:

I will not be able to continue building the temple

Preaching activities in Colombia will be severely affected

Years of service may come to a halt

Saving my eye means continuing Krishna’s service.

🌍 Current Challenges

I am alone in India undergoing treatment

Continued care requires medicines, follow-ups, and travel

If treatment extends, visa-related travel may be required

Colombia has limited devotee support and challenging conditions

🙏 A Humble Prayer

I depend fully on Krishna and His devotees.

If Krishna desires, I may regain my vision and continue serving Him.

Your support will directly help preserve a life dedicated to devotional service.

🙇‍♂️ Thank You

Your servant,

Rukmini Ramana Das

VaishnavaCare108 Foundation is a platform to help people in general, who are in need of financial help due to medical grounds.

VaishnavaCart108® is the registered trademark of VaishnavaCare108 Foundation.
VaishnavaCare108 Foundation hereinafter will also be referred to as VaishnavaCart108®.

1. To provide financial support to the needy for fulfilling their medical well-being.
2. To provide support and care to animals in terms of food, shelter, and medicine, especially cows.
3. To provide financial support, maintenance and development of holy places and goshalas.

Any vaishnava/person who has been referred to by a good-standing authority who is in need of financial assistance due to medical reasons.

Yes

Remittance snapshot from the payment gateway to the beneficiary of a particular campaign will be posted whenever they are done and you will see those details inside that campaign itself.

VaishnavaCart108® utilizes Razorpay, a user-friendly and streamlined platform, to process donations. Razorpay imposes a standard transaction fee of 2.5% on each donation. For instance, if a total of ₹1,00,000 is donated, Razorpay deducts ₹2,500, resulting in ₹97,500 being credited to our account.

Apart from the Razorpay transaction fee, we also bear other overhead expenses, including website domain and hosting charges, CA (Chartered Accountant) fees, and other relevant costs. Consequently, to account for these essential expenditures and ensure the smooth functioning of our campaigns, we typically apply a deduction ranging from 1.5% to 2% per campaign.

If the beneficiary is not able to submit the bills for the entire amount collected in a particular campaign due to which some amount remains with us, then VaishnavaCart108® will utilize it for future campaigns.

Absolutely not
The directors and volunteers working for VaishnavaCart108® do not receive any salary from the campaign funds. Instead, they provide their services voluntarily as an act of devotion. The campaign money is solely allocated to the intended beneficiaries, however a small percentage of the campaign money (1.5-2%) is deducted towards covering overhead expenses (Website & Domain maintenance charges, Chartered Accountant fees, and any other miscellaneous charges which may arise from time to time) and Payment gateway fees.

With every donation made, we send an acknowledgment mail from admin@vc108.org almost immediately. If you do not receive it, then please do check your spam folder and if you find it there then pls unspam it. If you find it missing in spam and your inbox as well, ping us at the below numbers and we will look into it.

50% Limited to 10% of income of the Assessee.

We usually post only two campaigns a month. This is because our campaigns are shared exclusively within our own WhatsApp community, and we do not seek support from outside sources in most cases. The devotees who contribute to these campaigns also have their own personal and other charitable commitments. Posting campaigns too frequently may put pressure on them, and over time, this could reduce the incoming donations.

Therefore, we humbly request your understanding and patience until your campaign is scheduled for posting.
If you would like the campaign url in advance for your own circulation, we will be very happy to prepare and share them with you, which you must have also noticed as an option in the campaign posting option field while submitting campaign request. However, the official posting from our side will be done only when it is due, keeping the above considerations in mind.

We truly appreciate your cooperation and support. 🙏

To ensure legal compliance, transparency, and protection for both donors and beneficiaries, contributions are collected through a registered charitable organisation rather than being transferred directly to an individual’s bank account.
Under the Income-tax Act, 1961, money received by an individual from non-relatives without consideration may be treated as taxable income under Section 56(2)(x) if the total amount exceeds ₹50,000 in a financial year. In medical emergencies, multiple well-wishers often contribute, and such receipts in a personal account can unintentionally create significant tax liability for the patient or their family.
When donations are routed through a registered NGO:
The funds are treated as charitable receipts of the organisation, not personal income of the patient.
Registered charitable entities (with valid registration under Section 12AB) can claim exemption on income applied for charitable purposes under Sections 11 and 12 of the Act.
This structure ensures proper documentation, audit trail, and utilisation of funds strictly for the stated medical purpose.
It prevents future scrutiny or disputes regarding the nature of receipts in the beneficiary’s personal tax records.
Where applicable, donors may also be eligible for tax deduction under Section 80G.
This approach safeguards the patient from unexpected tax exposure and ensures that all support reaches the intended medical use in a compliant and transparent manner.
