Hare Krishna! Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
I take this opportunity to thank one and all for the contribution for my cancer treatment via campaign- here and also for my daughter's education via campaign- here. Thank you very very much for having helped us during these difficult times.
Now we have come to the feet of all the Vaishnavas once again due to some medical emergency.
My husband Shandilya Rishi das, who is 55 now, distributed Srila Prabhupada's books, standing from morning till evening, when he was a full time devotee, in front of Udupi temple, for a few years consecutively. He developed varicose veins then and it further developed when he worked as a teacher for 10 years, standing for 6 periods a day, on an average. After we relocated to Bangalore for my cancer treatment, he underwent leech therapies and took some Ayurvedic medicines. But three months back he developed itching, small ulcers on the right leg with slight pain. Though he continued all the prescribed medications and employed other techniques to stop the aggravation, he developed more wounds and severe unbearable pain a month ago- he experienced unbearable pricking pain, pulsating pain, burning and neuropathic ( electric shock) pain.
He was admitted in Vasavi Hospital for 6 days, last month, and the doctors told us that he has got not only non healing venous ulcers but also cellulitis and eczema. They said it would even take up to a few months for the complete cure. Doppler Scan was done on both legs to find out how serious the varicose veins are! Based on clinical evaluation and report, bilateral EVLT (Endovenous Laster Treatment on both legs) after the wounds are healed. He had 4 wounds on his right leg at that time. He was put on a few antibiotics and pain killers. Now, he continues to be on painkillers and the medicines that strengthen the veins, improve the blood circulation- for almost a month. At present he is under the treatment of a Vascular Surgeon, Dr. Vivekananda, HOD of JIVAS at Bhagavan Mahaveer Jain Hospital, at Vasanth Nagar, Bangalore.
He has to go to hospital, on alternate days, for getting his wounds cleaned and covered with bandage cloths and CREF bandages. He was advised to take rest to speed up the recovery. As it is with all the bandages on, he is unable to do any work. His sleep is completely disturbed, due to the intermittent and frequent sharp " pins and needles" that he gets - even after taking pain killers.
The wounds may take a few weeks to few months to heal. Then EVLT has to be done . The approximate cost of the procedure - is around 3 lakhs. If you factor in pre hospitalization and post hospitalization expenses- it will be around 3.5 to 4 lakhs.
As we are under heavy financial strain due to my cancer treatment and my husband's 2 surgeries for anal piles, fistula, fissure and polyph last year- we find it difficult to pay for the ongoing and upcoming medical expenses.
So kindly donate liberally so that my husband gets on his feet soon.
Thanking you
Your Servant,
